The days of summer tanning and beach-going have now been long gone. The warm weather was being swept away by cool fall breezes and the beaches were almost uninhabited with the exception of few people walking their dogs along the sands. Those who would usually use this current Saturday afternoon to play in the sand now put on sweaters and trotted along the boardwalk, conversing and laughing.
Akeminess leaned her lower back against the wooden railing of the boardwalk, facing away from the water as she crossed her ankles. School had been in for a month or two and now it was time to get back into the schedule. While most would think that would be cutting back on their part-time job and doing homework, Akeminess only had boys and drama on her mind.
By this time in what she feels are typical high school standards, she would now have a boyfriend and get to brag about it to anyone she came to face with. Then they would go to a couple dances, claim to want to be together forever, and then break-up messily shortly after Christmas. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Now Akeminess was on the prowl. Considering the boardwalk was a popular spot for those in her grade, she decided to hang out in a cute-but-approachable outfit as she had described it before leaving the house. Dark wash skinny jeans tucked into leather knee-high wedge boots and a fitted black sweater hugged her hips, the zipper only done up to underneath her chest where a dark purple tank top could be seen. She dolled her up with a thin gold necklace with a heart on the end, a couple rings, and hoop earrings to match. Raven blue curls cascaded down her back from underneath a navy blue knitted beret, but her bangs were cleanly cut and straight.
Even though she viewed herself to be looking like a boardwalk cutie, no one was approaching her.
Akeminess let out a sigh. After pretending to respond to a text message so it seemed like she had some sort of social life, she reached into her pink purse and found her lip gloss. She began applying it generously over her lips while checking her reflecting in a compact mirror, giving another light sigh while doing so.
This sucked.
